To mark the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the nationalization of the Suez Canal, on 24–25 July 2006, a seminar and exhibition were held at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, organized jointly with the Suez Canal Authority. A number of historians and representatives of the Suez Canal Authority participated in the seminar including the president and former president of the Suez Canal Authority. Topics discussed explored not only the past of the Suez Canal, but also its present and future role.
