Supporting Developing Country Research: the AuthorAID and JOL programmes at INASP
Young and inexperienced researchers in developing countries face significant challenges when trying to get their work published in journals suited to the dissemination of their findings. They often lack role models in their universities who could help them in preparing scientific or scholarly papers and if their research is published in national journals it often lacks visibility. The International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications (INASP) seeks to address these issues through the AuthorAID and Journals Online projects. AuthorAID aims to increase the quality of journal submissions from researchers in developing countries and, ultimately, to increase the visibility and influence of research undertaken within the developing world, through editorial and scientific mentoring, resources and training. The Journals Online project (JOLs) provides visibility for national journals through a multiple journal online platform and editorial training, thus enhancing the communication of knowledge nationally and globally. |
