DESERTEC, Clean Energy for 10 Billion People |
|
|
|
The DESERTEC concept aims to enable 10 billion people to live on a planet with limited resources in a sustainable way. It bases on five pillars:
- Responsibility when managing the remaining resources
- All peoples of the earth shall have a realistic chance for development.
- Collect energy from the deserts, as it is abundant and not used.
- Transport the collected energy from the deserts over long distances to the users.
- Produce potable water by desalination to satisfy food demand.
We are experiencing nowadays a conflict of interests within the renewable energy (RE) market. Because producers of RE equipment are interested to get an elevated price for their products, while buyers like to have low prices.
Steps to solve this problem and thus to protect our planet from bursting are:
- Innovation
- High Quality of Products
- Standardization
