The 1st Hellenistic Studies Workshop '09

The Alexandria Center for Hellenistic Studies in collaboration with Dr. Kyriakos Savvopoulos organized the 1st Hellenistic Studies Workshop, 12 July 2009 and came to a successful end on the 18 July 2009. Of the center’s aims at its establishment in November 2008 was to go International and increase the awareness of the Hellenistic culture around the world. This workshop was the start of this endeavor. The program comprised round-table discussions and a series of lectures on topics related to the Hellenistic period held at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina conference halls. The participants got to visit the archeological sites and museums in Alexandria and a chance to culturally interact with the locals for the ultimate cultural experience. Special permission was granted from Dr. Zahy Hawas, General secretary of Antiquities, for cameras and on-site photography.
