Project Duration: 2 months
Start/End Date: October - November 2010
Cultural competence is a vital aspect of care for patients from different backgrounds. Our intervention will support the staff in providing quality care to Muslim patients with diverse values, beliefs and behaviors.
Caring for Muslim women in American hospitals is a challenge for health care professionals.
Lecturing about Islamic medical ethics and the unique consideration of medical therapy for Muslim women is the cornerstone for improving care and preventing confrontation between the patient and staff.
Culturally competent care will fulfill the Muslim woman’s social, cultural and linguistic needs.
