UNL
The mission of the UNL program, initiated within the United Nations and devised by the Universal Networking Digital Language (UNDL) Foundation, is to enable all people to generate information and have access to cultural knowledge in their native languages. UNL is an artificial language attempting to replicate the functions of natural language in human communication.
UNL applications include multilingual web pages, UNL encyclopedia, etc. Currently, 15 languages have been involved and a number of institutions have started to work on their respective native languages.
Progress had been made in different components, where grammatical features analysis of Arabic lexemes located in the Arabic Database (ADB) and implementation of the UNL Library Information System (L IS) Query Engine has been completed. In addition, design and development of the data source layer for the Annotation Graphs of the Arabic Corpus was completed and tested too. Moreover, development of the Arabic Deco rules Version II and Enco Rules Version I were also accomplished. The Deco rules cover the complete de-conversion of the six UNL Corpus documents obtained from the UNL Center.
