Project Duration: Ongoing
Start/End Date: 2007 -
The key objectives of the Canadian Muslim Women Who Inspire campaign are to provide role models for girls/women, promote a positive image of Canadian Muslim women, and counter stereotypes.
This is a national campaign and was launched in celebration of CCMW’s 25th anniversary in 2007. Since then, we seek nominations each year for Canadian Muslim women from across Canada, who have inspired others.
To be nominated the individual must have demonstrated commitment to improving the lives of others; embraced diversity and inclusion within Muslim communities and in the broader Canadian society; demonstrated commitment to women’s equality; and demonstrated commitment to civic engagement.
The campaign is now in its third year, and previous award winners hail from all walks of life such sports, academia, politics and social activism. Selected women are recognized at an awards ceremony organized by CCMW.
