New Egyptian Excellence at Regeneron Science and Engineering Competition

A number of qualified Egyptian students from the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Science and Engineering Fair, held in cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), managed to excel in a fierce competition with students from all over the world during the activities of the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair that took place in Los Angeles, California.
Egyptian students Adham Mohamed Taha and Mohamed Ahmed Aref from Kafr El-Sheikh ranked fourth globally in the field of translational medicine, for their project: "Synchronizing the Lifestyle of Patients with Medullary Sponge Kidney.” The students used artificial intelligence techniques to support the process of managing the detection of the disease and following its developments, which works to enhance the lives of those affected, including children.
Students Ahmed Kadri Hassan and Ahmed Hanafi Hassan from Kafr El-Sheikh also received a special award in the field of biomedical engineering for their project: "Using Artificial Intelligence Innovatively to Classify the Types of Ovarian Cancer.” They each received a full scholarship from the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity to study at King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia.
