Beside
these two main processes an artefact explanation was discussed which suggested that
inequalities in health are purely an artefact of measurement. While this old, exclusive version of this explanation is now rejected, it’s important to remind ourselves that the magnitude of observed class gradients depends on the measurement of both class and health.
