AIDS is
compounding the old troubles like starvation and TB into something much
worse. Many millions of people will die in the next decade, more than
decimating these youthful populations that can resurge rapidly once AIDS is
stopped. In Africa, AIDS is accelerating at a squared rate, indicating
little intention to stop it. At the very best, some 50 years are needed
for African population recovery. AIDS expenses are
keeping African children out of school. Education is needed for employment
skills. AIDS is making orphans that intensify poverty.
