This lower
socioeconomic status tend to be closely related toother factors such as
crowded living conditions and poor nutrition status that are also conducive
to increased susceptibility and transmission of tubercle bacilli should a
case occur.
The range of education levels in TTS district was quite wide with more than
80% having had only elementary education while respondents with tertiary
education comprised less than 1%. In Bandung the distribution was more even
with 60%, 35% and 5% of the respondents having elementary, secondary and
tertiary education respectively. The distribution of occupation also shows
the differences between the two districts. In TTS the key occupation was
farming while in Bandung it was mainly blue collar workers. Respondents with
no paid occupation in TTS and Bandung were mostly females. |
