There was much confusion introduced by these comparison studies and there was
great resistance to the idea that possibly surgery might not be necessary for
adequate treatment of periodontal disease. A new rationale justifying
periodontal surgery of “quality of debridement” was published with this
study.
IDEA: – clean the roots better by seeing them first. In my opinion this represented a desperate attempt to protect a profitable revenue stream that could only be scientifically supported in limited usage. The next topic is the Specific Plaque Hypothesis. This new theory promises to clear up a lot confusion for practitioners and take periodontal therapy to new success levels along with making it more comfortable for patients. |
