The great
performers were Man o’ War, Secretariat and Citation. The great sires or "prepotent"
horses were Bull Lea and Nasrullah, not withstanding other sires like Sir
Gallahad III, father of GallantFox.. Horse of the Year cannot be placed on the Y axis with the sire on the X axis, because so few sires repeat in this record. Amazingly, Bull Lea had 4 such performers, but again he is the single exception. Some others like Spendthrift, Fair Play sire of Man o’ War, Nasrullah and Princequillo had 2. Despite the Bull Lea and Nasrullah trends, breeding is random. |
