prevalence of 19.7% at baseline 17 weeks gestation. Kurki prevalence of 21% at 8-17 weeks gestation. Other studies have reported a similar two fold increase in PTL with BV during pregnancy. Recent meta-analysis reviewing publication examining bacterial vaginosis and PTD reported a summary odds ratio of 1.6 or 60% increase risk of PTD given BV in pregnancy. Next series of research involves determining the efficacy of screening and treating for BV to reduce the risk of PTD and identifying ways to predict PTD. |
