Presumably the mere acceptance of the paper for
publication by a high impact journal is an implied indicator of prestige.
Typically, when the author’s recent bibliography is examined, the impact
factors of the journals involved are substituted in lieu of the actual
citation count. Thus, the impact factor is used to estimate the expected
influence of individual papers which is rather dubious considering the known
skewness observed for most journals. |
