In 1910 J.I.Craig of the Egyptian Department of Surveys proposed this projection for the qibla problem. This map gives correct directions TO Mecca. Craig’s projection has straight, equally spaced, meridians. The parallels are concave down, and will eventually meet at the edge of the map. This is an extract from a larger map. But it covers the main Muslim countries It looks better if you squint. |
