The lack of
sufficient study of the tissue responses to alternating pressure leaves many questions
regarding this type of support surface. Namely, what are the ideal characteristics of the
support surface: geometry of the surface (size/shape of cells and space between cells),
material, depth, composition and shape of the supporting structure? Also, what are the
ideal characteristics of the alternating cycle (rise time, hold time, duration of total
cycle, pattern of relief)? |
