The rich, first world is anxious about population numbers. Its own population is steady but aging and increasingly dependent.It does not welcome refugees or asylum seekers. It is a consumer society with a heavy use of the world’s resources,  conspicuous waste and careless pollution all in the name of profit. It does not want to change its lifestyle and expects “the standard of living” to improve annually……and it usually does

The poor, third world has a young population. Babies are surviving but growing up into communities where space, food and work become increasingly scarce. Their use of resources is much less, less is wasted and pollution is largely ignored and is more a local problem  than an international one. They want to emulate the rich life style of the Americas but life chances are diminishing and the option of migrating out is difficult.

A massive AIDS problem barely in control and killing the brightest and the best is leaving a society  of young and old dependents.
