Egyptian medicine, similar to the Mesopotamian healing arts we have looked at, was heavily influenced by their view of religion.  To the Egyptians most deities were associated with some aspect of health or illness.  Isis was worshipped as a healing goddess.  Her cult persisted for many centuries and temples dedicated to her healing powers were still being established at the time temples to Aescleplus began to appear in the Greek world.
