Although
coronary heart disease mortality and incidence in Japan are one of the lowest in the world
, risk factors for CHD are very similar to those in other countries.This slide shows
the relative risk of coronary heart disease against the levels of serum total cholesterol
in various studies conducted in Japan and in MRFIT. NIPPON DATA comprises of 10,000 men
and women of national representative sample in Japan, followed up for 19 years. Relative
risks are very similar to those in MRFIT.
