EPA: Reduces threats to health by limiting hazardous materials introduced into the air, water and soil by domestic and industrial activity. USDA: In coordination with FDA, oversees the food supply and supports public health through the Women, Infants and Children Nutrition Program of prescribed food and nutrition education for at-risk individuals. DOL: Enforces occupational health and safety laws. DVA: Manages a significant network of hospitals and clinics to serve veterans of military service. Care for service-connected problems is provided at no cost to veterans. DOT: Highway traffic safety is under DOT oversight, and has made a tremendous contribution to public health. |
