Ethnocentricity:
- A practice of unconsciously or consciously judging others using one’s own cultural criteria.
- Interpretation of the values, beliefs and behaviors of others in terms of one’s own cultural values and traditions, with the assumption that one’s own culture is superior.
- Generalized contempt for members of other groups.
- A world view in which one’s own group is central, and all other groups are rated and scaled relative to one’s own group.
Collusion
- Destructive cooperation
- Cooperating with, reinforcing, and sustaining a dysfunctional, stereotypic biased status quo
- Occurs when one behaves -- knowingly or unknowingly -- in ways that solidify and perpetuate bias, exclusion, and dysfunctional utilization of human potential.
