I'm going to need to tell you a little bit about preeclampsia, as well as a little bit about previous approaches to prevent preeclampsia. The summation is that they haven't been successful, but there may be something we can learn from that. I'll talk about some principles to guide any form of preventive therapy, the rationale for antioxidant therapy, and then I'll give you the skeleton the NICHD/NHLBI study design, which will be beginning in January 2003.
