HEDIS (Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set)
The data represents information from NCQA’s Accreditation program -- in which more 447 participating health plans. There are 630 health plans in the U.S today. There are 60 HEDIS measures but these 10 are the most widely reported. In addition, the reported included satisfaction measures of which I reported one. These are considered the most far reaching measures and they have been available since HEDIS 1.0 so they can be reported as trend data.
1. Adolescent Immunizations: Percentage of 13-year-olds who received appropriate immunizations (for measles, mumps, and rubella) during the previous year.
2. Advise to Quit Smoking: Percentage of smokers or recent quitters age 18 and older who received advice to quit smoking from a health plan professional.
3. Beta Blockers: Percentage of members age 35 and older who were hospitalized and discharged wit the diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction who received a prescription for beta blockers.
4. Breast Cancer Screen: Percentage of women between the ages of 52 and 69 who have had at least one mammogram during the past two years.
5. Cervical Cancer Screen: Percentage of women age 21 to 64 who had at least one Papanicolau (Pap) test during the past three years.
6. Cesarean Section: Percentage of women who delivered by Cesarean section rather than vaginal delivery.
