Before starting the survey, the mechanism for questionnaire validation must be set up. Generally we enter the questionnaires in a computer. Programs like EpiInfo allow for checking the validity of the responses and can automatically compute some indices. This program must be set up and proven free of serious errors before the real survey begins. Rememeber that 'Not applicable' can be different from 'Missing value' in the analysis.
