Travelers who may
have a life-threatening infection needs to be dealt with expeditiously. A
patient in whom you suspect falciparum malaria should not be sent home to
come back tomorrow for blood results. Several examples of infectious
diseases and parasites that may be life threatening are given here and
should be considered in travelers who may have been exposed. |
