The Code of
Practice for Noise Control on Construction and Demolition Sites9,
introduced in 1989 and revised in 1998: provides information on measures
that can be adopted to reduce noise from various construction and demolition
equipment. It also provides information on estimation of noise levels from
work and methods of noise monitoring. The Code highlights the importance of
minimizing construction noise to protect site personnel and nearby residents,
and recommends measures to be taken at the planning, design, tender and
