Parents of lead
poisoned children often report that their child changed after the acute
illness and became in attentive fidgety and often aggressive. There are
other clues that suggest that lead may be associated with delinquency. This
slide shows some risk factors which are common to delinquents and lead
exposure. Moffit has studied delinquents and classified them into 2 groups:
the early onset/life persistent group and the later onset/desister group.
The early onset group are the career criminals. She and others have showed a
high rate of neuropsychological deficits in this group. The late onset group
are no different that nondelinquent controls. |
