In 1910, shortly after Craig’s retro-azimuthal projection was described, E. Hammer suggested adding the condition of equidistance. That is, places should not only be positioned at their correct location with respect to direction to Mecca, but also at their correct distance from Mecca. This map, with a sausage shaped hole and considerable overlapping in the center, is the result. |
