mothers opposing gun violence in schools and gun retailers, or public health
professionals and tobacco farmers have led to strong coalitions with expanded
resources. Try to find common ground with the opposition Consider becoming a
member of opposing groups. For example, in the tobacco arena, many tobacco
control advocates are on smokers’ rights mailing lists to alert them about
initiatives the opposition will be proposing, so appropriate strategies for
countering their actions can be planned.
