ATSDR does not have the legal authority to provide medical care or treatment to people who have been exposed to hazardous substances or provide funds for relocation or clean up of a site. ATSDR advises, consults, and assists public or private health care providers. It is a non-regulatory agency.  It only recommends actions that need to be taken to safeguard health of community members.
