This trend is
found also in the United States. Considering fatalities per passengers flown, the data
indicate that flying on scheduled US carriers is safer now that at any time before. This figure is telling in two respects. Over time, the number of passengers flying in commercial aircraft has increased significantly. Also, as shown before, the number of accidents is steadily declining. Thus, despite more and more use of air transportation, the system is getting safer rather than more dangerous. |
