The
distribution of all known landfill sites, buffered to 2 km, is shown in here. The widespread distribution of these sites, and the large percentage of the surface area of GB included within the buffer zones is evident. Also apparent is the high density of sites in a broad swathe from London in the south-east through the Midlands to Yorkshire, Lancashire and Merseyside in the north of England. Other clusters are seen in South Wales, the Teesside-Tyneside area, and across the Midland Valley of Scotland. |
