The categories of a nominal variable have no relation to each other and can not be arranged in a specific order. If there is only one of two alternatives the nominal variable is dichotomous (as gender, exposure status, ..etc). If there are more than two categories, the nominal variable is multichotomous ( as blood group, occupation, ..etc.). |
