The
epidemiologic thinking process follows specific steps to identify the possible types of
error. If a study detects a relationship between exposure and health-related event, the
following explanations are possible. First, the study results are wrong. Second, the study
results are true but the apparent relationship is not true and the exposure is not the
underlying cause of the health- related event. Third, the results are true and the
exposure could be the true underlying cause of the health related event. |
