a) Our method of data collection began with a questionnaire format to extract subject information. The questions captured demographic information, hand and nail care, gloving practices, lotion use and the overall condition of the hands.

b) Throughout the study we collected information using three measurement tools: the VSS (which visual scoring of the skin), Erythema grading scales and HSA (hand skin assessment) all of which are correlated with objective measures of the skin. The VSS and Erythema scales were measured by the study investigators and the HSA was completed by the subjects themselves.
