TWAS-AREP 2019 Winners - Congratulations!

TWAS-AREP is pleased to annouce the Arab Regional Award and Young Arab Scientist (YAS) Prize winners in addition to the TWAS Arab Young affiliates for 2019.

- TWAS Arab Regional Award for 2019 in "Development of Scientific Educational Material"; awarded in recognition of significant and innovative contributions to scientific educational material, that help to advance the quality of science education in the Arab Region.
The winner for 2019 award is: Prof. Murad AlDamen, Professor of Inorganic Chemistry, Department of Chemistry, The University of Jordan (Jordan).

- TWAS Young Arab Scientist (YAS) Prize for 2019 in "Scientific and Technological Achievement in Agriculture and Environmental Sciences"; awarded to young scientists from the Arab region who have accomplished an unusually notable research or technological effort in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. The prize was awarded for a substantial revision or modification of a scientific and technological principle or procedure, or an important improvement to the value of a device, activity, program, or public service.
The Prize was jointly awarded to Dr. Sedky Hassan, Lecturer, Department of Botany and Microbiology, Faculty of Science, New Valley University (Egypt) and Dr. Ramia AlBAkain, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, The University of Jordan (Jordan).

- The selected TWAS Arab Young Affiliates for 2019 are:

  • Hassan Shokry, Associate Professor, Environmental Engineering Department, Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (Egypt)
  • Hiba El Hajj, Associate Professor, Department of Experimental Pathology, Immunology and Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine, the American University of Beirut (Lebanon)
  • Saja Fakhraldeen, Assistant Research Scientist in the Environment and Life Sciences Research Center, the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research-KISR (Kuwait)
  • Lamya Al-Haj, Assistant Professor, Biology Department, College of Science, Sultan Qaboos University Sultanate of Oman
  • Hamdan Abualbasher, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Faculty of Medicine, Al-Neelain University,  (Sudan)
