Regional Workshop on Science Diplomacy for the Arab Region

Arab scientists and policy makers from developing countries can submit 'pair applications' for the AREP-TWAS Regional Science Diplomacy Workshop.

Deadline: 21 August 2023.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) through the Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), The World Academy of Sciences for the Advancement of Science in Developing Countries’ Arab Regional Partner (TWAS–AREP) are seeking candidates to participate in the Regional Workshop on Science Diplomacy for the Arab Region that will be held hybrid from 24–26 October 2023.

Applicants should be Arab scientists and policy/decision makers who are living and working in developing countries.

Applicants from Science and Technology Lagging Countries (STLCs) and Least Developed Countries (LDCs) from the Arab region are especially encouraged to apply.

Women are particularly encouraged to apply.

TWAS-AREP Online Closed Meeting (19 July 2023)

On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, Prof. Dr Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the World Academy of Sciences for the Advancement of Science in Developing Countries Arab Regional Partner (TWAS-AREP) Coordinator, inaugurated the TWAS-AREP Online Closed Meeting.

The meeting was held virtually, in the presence of Prof. Dr Sabah Al-Momen, Vice President of the World Academy of Sciences for developing countries for the Arab region, in addition to many TWAS Arab members and young affiliates from various Arab countries such as Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Sudan, Iraq, Tunisia, Morocco, and Kuwait.

TWAS Arab members and young affiliates discussed the TWAS-AREP strategic efforts and activities updates that support young researchers' academic excellence in the region.
