TWAS–ARO Young Affiliates 2017–2021

Every year, the five TWAS Regional Offices each select up to five scientists under the age of 40 years to be 'TWAS Young Affiliates' for a period of five years.
During their tenure, Affiliates are invited to participate in TWAS general meetings and conferences.
This program seeks to identify the best young scientists in each region of the developing world and provide them with opportunities to network with one another, with TWAS Fellows, and to attend international conferences and other events for young scientists.
TWAS–ARO Young Affiliates eligibility criteria:
- Less than 40 years by nomination date
- Native of an Arab country
- Has at least 10 international publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Residing and working in a developing country for at least the past three years.
Note: Self-nominations are not permitted.

TWAS–ARO Regional Prize for 2017
|
|
Public Understanding and Popularization of Science
Deadline: 20 June 2017
TWAS Regional Prizes 2017 will be awarded in recognition of individuals who have significant contributions to popularize science, and have developed new strategies that serve the popularization of science and technology in developing countries.
Each TWAS Regional Prize winner received USD 3,000 cash award.
Candidates for a TWAS–ARO Prize must be scientists who have been working and residing in a developing country for at least ten years. They must meet at least one of the following qualifications:
- Scientific research achievement of outstanding significance for the development of scientific thought.
- Outstanding contribution to the application of Science and Technology to industry or to human well-being in a developing country.
Note: Self-nominations are not permitted.

TWAS: Atta-ur-Rahman Prize in Chemistry
|
|
Deadline: 26 June 2017
This annual award is granted to young chemists, under the age of 40 years, national of a developing country, who have been residing and working in a Scientifically and Technologically (ST)-lagging country for a minimum of two years immediately prior to their application.
All fields of Chemistry are eligible.
The Prize is worth USD 5,000.

TWAS: C.N.R. Rao Prize for Scientific Research

|
Deadline: 26 June 2017
The prize, named after TWAS Founding Fellow and former president C.N.R. Rao, carries a cash award of USD 5,000. It is designed to honor TWAS Fellows from the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), who have made significant contributions to global science.

TWAS: Samira Omar Innovation for Sustainability Prize

This new annual prize, named after the TWAS Fellow Samira Omar, will be awarded to a female scientist residing and working in a Least Developing Country (LDC) for scientific achievements in conservation and management of natural resources.
The Prize is a cash award of USD 4,000.

This annual prize, named after the TWAS Fellow Fayzah M. Al-Kharafi, recognizes women scientists from Scientifically and Technologically Lagging (STL) countries. It is a cash award of USD 4,000 and will rotate among various fields of science.
Nominations for the 2017 prize are in the field of Medical Sciences.

TWAS Research and Advanced Training Fellowship: 2017 Call for Applications

TWAS, is now accepting applications for the TWAS Research and Advanced Training Fellowship programme.
The fellowships are offered to scientists, from developing countries, and are tenable at Centers of Excellence in various developing countries.
Eligible fields include one or more of the following: agricultural and biological sciences, medical and health sciences, chemistry, engineering, astronomy, space and Earth sciences, mathematics and physics.
Women scientists are specifically encouraged to apply.
