UNESCO-TWAS Research Grants programme_open call for applications in basic sciences.

TWAS is a programme unit of UNESCO, and thanks to the generous contribution of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, The TWAS Research Grants programme in Basic Sciences was established in response to the needs of researchers in developing countries, particularly those attached to institutions that lack appropriate research facilities. Under this scheme, grants can be awarded for research projects in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics either to individual young researchers or to research units in the science-and-technology-lagging countries (S&TLC) identified by TWAS, to enable them to purchase the research facilities they need to enhance their productivity.

The call is for Individual young researchers and Research Units (Groups). The grants for Research Units must also support atleast one MSc student as part of the project.

The Research Grants to individual scientists amount to a maximum of USD 20,000 and Research Grants to research units amount to a maximum of USD 40,000.

NB: The age limit may vary slightly between the two grants.

We are contacting you to inform you that the call for the 2022 Research Grants is open and will remain open until 11 May 2022.

All information regarding the Grants be found on the TWAS website:

If you have a valid research project in one of these 4 fields (Physics, Maths, Biology and Chemistry) we strongly invite you to apply. We also encourage women scientists to apply.
