TWAS Arab Young Affiliates 2022-2027 Call

Each year, TWAS-AREP select five scientists under the age of 40 years to be 'TWAS Young Affiliates' for a period of five years.

This program seeks to identify the best young scientists in each region of the developing world and provide them with opportunities to network with one another, with TWAS Fellows, and to attend international conferences and other events for young scientists.

TWAS-AREP congratulates the five selected Arab Young Affiliates.

TWAS Arab Regional Award Prize 2022

TWAS-AREP congratulates the TWAS Arab Regional Award Prize 2022 winners and acknowledges their exceptional contributions and achievements in the field of "Science Diplomacy".

This prize is given to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to 'Science Diplomacy’ to the attention of both the research and diplomatic communities in developing countries.

Online Lecture: “Education for Sustainable Development” 2 November 2022

The Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP) affiliated to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina's Academic Research Sector, and the World Academy of Sciences for the Advancement of Science in Developing Countries’ Arab Regional Partner (TWAS-AREP) organized an online lecture titled "Education for Sustainable Development" on Wednesday 2 November 2022.

The lecture aimed at discussing The Challenges and Opportunities of Sustainable Education in the Arab Region.

The lecture was presented by Prof. Saouma Boujaoude, Department of Education, Social and Economic Sciences, Interim Dean, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, American University of Beirut.

Online Workshop: "Biodiversity towards Sustainable Food Systems in the Arab Region" 13-14 December 2022

Within the framework of the Young Scientists Training Program, held to provide young scientists with needed skills to advance their career and achieve their professional goals, TWAS-AREP organized an online workshop with the theme “Biodiversity towards Sustainable Food Systems in the Arab Regionon 13-14 December 2022.

The workshop discussed Biodiversity and Agro-Food Systems, with special emphasis on their inter-correlation with the climate change. It also discussed the Agro-Foods nexus in depth, biodiversity challenges facing Arab countries especially as a consequence of climate change.
