On 27 November 2008, a performance of Euripedes’ play Medea was given by Theatre Arcadia, an NGO affiliated to the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Hellenic International Development Cooperation Department and Hellenic Aid. This event was held in collaboration between the Hellenic Ministry of Tourism, Alexandria University, the Alex Med Center and the Arts Center of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

The play was directed by Katarina Paliou, who also interpreted Medea. The Chorus was composed of students from the Theatrical Studies Department and the English Language and Literature Department of the Arts Faculty, and from the Law Faculty of Alexandria University. The music, composed by Effie Ratsou, was performed live on stage by the BA Chamber Orchestra conducted by maestro Sherif Mohie Eldin.
