The first seminar on urban planning was organized jointly by the National Authority for Urban Planning and by Alex Med at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina on 20 December 2004. This seminar was attended by specialists and academics, as well as by officials who spoke on several topics related to urban planning in Alexandria. Discussions held reflected the attendees’ awareness of the topic, its problems, and its future.

The seminar concluded with a series of recommendations for institutes, including Alex Med, to put forward plans for housing management, conservation of architectural and natural heritage, re-establishing the municipal system, and to inform the Minister of Culture and the Prime Minister of the seminar’s recommendations and of their importance.
