In a celebration held at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina on 24 February 2004, Alex Med honored Father Maurice Martin and Anahide Méramédjian in recognition of their lifelong work dedicated to books and learning. Homage was paid to Jesuit Father Maurice Martin, for his work as Director of the Jesuit Library in Cairo, and as a well known Orientalist and historian on Coptic culture. Anahide Méramédjian was honored for the work she achieved through her bookshop, Vient de paraître, for over 50 years. Both were awarded plates by Dr. Mohamed Awad, the director of the Alex Med center.
