Abstract:
The tuberculosis endemic is a major concern for countries in WHO South East Asian region. One of the main reasons of a rise in the incidence of tuberculosis in the developing world is the inability to detect the disease in time. Weak laboratory management, poor maintenance of laboratory equipment, inadequate number of skilled staff and limited resources all add to the inadequate quality of laboratory results. Though National Tuberculosis Reference Laboratories (NTRLs) are required to provide quality services throughout the diagnostic networks of a country, there are certain factors that these laboratories face while implementing laboratory quality management systems (LQMSs) to ensure quality results that delay accreditation.
