   Biography
 
Claudio Carlone is a senior professional specialised in communication, management, strategic advisory services, public and institutional relations. At present, he is professor of Finance, Management and Management Control at the Master “Management and Financial Strategies” – ICOSUP, École Supérieure de Commerce, Lorraine. He is also in charge of the courses of “Project Management” and “Cultural Diversity in Business” at the LEA Master of the Université de Lorraine. Born in Rome in 1952, he works in support of reaserch and financial institutions, manufacturing companies, public administration and international organizations. Former President and CEO of Hypothesis, he has been most recently the responsible for institutional relations and communication at the Agency for Technology and Innovation (Italian Government, an advisor at the Banca Popolare di Milano Group and at the Milan Chamber of Commerce. Claudio Carlone received a degree in engineering from the University of Rome “la Sapienza”. Later conducted research at the Italian National Research Council (CNR). In 1982, he launched a career in journalism and communications, focusing on science, innovation and its economics, on intellectual property and the relationships between enterprise and society. In 1989, he founded Hypothesis, a company, where he has gained a 20-year experience in S&T communication and institutional relations, both at a national and an international level. Claudio Carlone has worked as a strategic advisor in the hi-tech and financial sectors, focusing on the role of new technology in value creation and development processes. He served on the boards of Italian listed companies, as a partner of the Nuovo Mercato of Borsa Italiana (the Italian Stock Exchange’s index of hi-tech firms)and as a board member of APE (the Italian Association for Economic Development). Other activities include: Acting as the Coordinator of the Milan Chamber of Commerce’s Advisory Board for the Innovation Centre Project; As the Secretary of the Commission for the recovery plan for the former Falck industrial area in Sesto San Giovanni (Milan); As the Coordinator of the Committee for Science and Technology (CAST) of the City of Milan. Personal interests include music, books and offshore sailing. Italian national and mother tongue, he speaks English, French and Spanish.
