Biography |

Mohamed Aly El-Hamamsy was born in 1946 in Cairo/Egypt. He graduated from Cairo University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He later earned a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and subsequently a Master’s degree in Islamic Art and Architecture. El-Hamamsy has had a distinguished career with the IBM company, where he worked in Egypt, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. In 1997, El-Hamamsy founded MegaCom, a company specialised in management and business consulting. In 1999 El-Hamamsy assumed the position of Vodafone Egypt Chief Executive Officer and from 2002 till November 2006, he became Vice-Chairman of Vodafone Egypt.
He currently serves on a variety of Boards of Organizations (Banque Misr, Raya, Egyptian Competition Authority, Future Urban Development Company and others), as well as several development Foundations. He is fluent in Arabic, English and French and has some notion of German.
