Ethics of Research on Human Subjects |
Conducting researches with human subjects is considered one of the most critical and sensitive issues in a research process. The ethical problems that the researchers face when they are dealing with human subjects lead to competing and conflicting interests. Researchers are striving to push scientific research forward; in this case they may lose sight of important ethical issues. In this respect, one of the most important lessons that researchers should know is that giving relative weights to conflicting moral issues in human subjects researches results from a process of extensive negotiation between all those whose interests are affected. To reduce conflict between research parties, many ethical principles should be followed, namely; autonomy, beneficence and non maleficence, justice, fidelity, confidentiality and privacy.
