Leveraging IP for Technology Transfer: Lessons learned from WIPO Re:Search and WIPO GREEN |
This presentation will focus on the practical aspects of leveraging intellectual property for technology transfer in the fields of health and climate change.
The discussion will take place through the lens of lessons learned through two multi-stakeholder platforms administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the United Nations specialized agency for IP:
1. WIPO Re:Search - a consortium to share innovation in the fight against neglected diseases, tuberculosis and malaria
2. WIPO GREEN - a marketplace for sustainable technologies, oriented towards creating a facilitative environment for transfer of green technologies
Both platforms seek to engage multiple stakeholders, each of whom plays a critical role in the tech transfer value chain, and to leverage IP and related assets in the broadest sense in order to accomplish key development goals. This process involves understanding and managing the different interests, perspectives and goals at play and ensuring that all participants benefit while contributing fruitfully to the innovation process.
