Dr. John Kilama is a Director and Founder of the Kilama International Consulting Group (KICG), based in Wilmington, Delaware, United States of America. The KICG mission is to facilitate good management of intellectual property rights at institutional and national levels in developing countries. Dr. Kilama has experience in medicinal chemistry (drug development) and agrochemical chemistry (agrochemical development). Dr Kilama has expertise in developing policy that promotes private/public partnerships to address research, trade, technology transfer, healthcare and intellectual property development in developing countries. Dr. Kilama has expertise in Drug Utilizations Review (DUR), biotechnology, biodiversity and intellectual property. Dr. Kilama is a Founder and President of the Global Bioscience Development Institute (GBDI), a non-profit, non-governmental organization that worked directly with developing countries on capacity building for regulations related to the commercialization of inventions based on genetic resources, biodiversity and biotechnology. Dr. Kilama previously served as adjunct Professor at Union Institute, Cincinnati, Ohio; a consultant Managing Director for African Bio-Therapeutics Institute (ABIT), Rutgers University, Advisory Board member of the World Health Organization (WHO) Initiative on Public-Private Sector Partnership (IPPPH) for Health, Geneva, Switzerland. Dr.Kilama holds a bachelor degree in Chemistry from Berea College, Berea, Kentucky (USA), a Bachelor degree in Pharmacy from the University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky (USA), a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona (USA) and a Post-Doctoral fellow at the University of Minnesota (USA). He is currently a Board of Directors of M360, INC; and the Institute of Trade, Standards and Sustainable Development (Princeton, New Jersey). Dr. Kilama is a Senior Science Advisor and Chairman of Bio Exploration Fund to the International Organization for Chemistry in Development (IOCD) Chartered in Belgium. Dr. Kilama has published widely in scientific publications, and has led a number of international trade missions to China, India, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda and many African countries.
